Our Story

We both moved here after graduating from college in 2012 (Ashley from NJ and college in PA, Rodney from OR and college in OH) — but it took us 10 years to meet! While Rodney spent his time playing kickball and hanging out at Hamilton's Bar, Ashley was attending political protests and spending her time on H Street NE or at her friends' houses.
We met like all post-pandemic millennials do: on the apps! For our first date, we were supposed to go to a bar that Rodney picked out, but it was closed, so instead Ashley convinced Rodney to go to the Pub & The People, which was her neighborhood bar and meant she had only a short walk in the cold in January 2022. When Rodney proposed in September 2023, Ashley surprised him with a commissioned painting of the Pub and the People painted with extra personalized details by D.C. artist Erin Thompson.
Rodney proposed at home on September 6, 2023, and Ashley's first response was, "are you serious?!" She said yes once she finally realized what was happening, and then after a quick round of phone calls to her parents, we went out to dinner at Rose's Luxury with two of our closest friends, Raechel and Andrew.
Ashley and Rodney live in Northeast D.C. with their dog Goldie, and lots of Ashley's plants. We spend our free time with our pup, going to our neighborhood farmer's market, cooking, and doing various furniture and home DIY projects.
